มีคนเคยกล่าวว่า ถ้าไม่รู้จักตัวเอง ให้ไปที่ที่ไม่มีใครรู้จักคุณ แล้วคุณจะรู้จักตัวเองมากขึ้น แต่ถ้าไม่รู้จักที่ไป ผมขอแนะนำให้ไปอินเดีย แล้วคุณจะรู้

 จักและรักตัวเองมากกว่าที่ใดในโลกแต่ถ้าคุณรู้จักตัวเองดีและไม่ได้อยากไปอินเดีย ผมขอให้อ่านบันทึกการเดินทางของใบพัดคุณคงไม่รู้จักตัวเอง

 เพิ่มขึ้นหรอก แต่อย่างน้อยคุณอาจจะได้รู้ว่าเรื่องตลกชั้นดีนั้นมันเกิดจากประสบการณ์ชั้นเลวได้เหมือนกัน-ยุทธเลิศ สิปปภาค

 อ่านหนังสือเล่มนี้แล้ว อาจไม่ทำให้คุณอยากไปอินเดียมากหนัก(โธ่! ใครจะอยากตามรอยเด็กติ๋มถูกหลอก!) แต่คุณต้องอยากลุกขึ้นทำอะไรแปลกๆ

 ไปจากตารางชีวิตเดิมๆ แน่ อย่างเช่น เลิกป๊อดแล้วลุกขึ้นซื้อตั๋วไปอินเดีย(เอ๊ะ! ยังไง)หรือไม่ก็นอมมองเพดานบ้านชื่นชมความติ๋มของตัวเองวันละ

 สองชั่วโมง หรืออย่างน้อยที่สุดก็ต้องเกิดอาการคันคะเยอแบบเด็กติ๋มขึ้นมาเหมือนมันเป็นโรคติดต่อละน่า-โตมร ศุขปรีชา

 But if you do not know where to go, I recommend India—there, you will come to know and love yourself more than anywhere else in the world.And if you already know yourself well and have no desire to go to India, then I suggest reading Bhipat’s travelogue. You probablywon’t come to know yourself any better—but at the very least, you may discover that the finest jokes can indeed be born from the worst experiences.

Who would want to follow in the footsteps of a naïve kid who keeps getting duped?)But it will almost certainly make you want to get up and do something strange—something outside the routine of your orderly life.Perhaps you’ll stop being timid and buy a ticket to India(Hey… how did that happen?),or perhaps you’ll simply lie on your back, staring at the ceiling,admiring your own timidity for two hours a day.At the very least, you’ll feel an irresistible itch—that peculiar itch of the naïve kid—as if it were a contagious disease after all.
