The journey began with a backpack in Jinghong, then headed north to Kunming, Dali, Jianchuan, and Lijiang, all the way to the Tibetan frontier at Zhongdian—China’s Shangri-La.From there, I returned to Kunming to rest and recover, before crossing into Vietnam through the Lao Cai border, continuing on to Hanoi, then south to Hue, and ending at Hoi An—two World Heritage cities as a graceful finale. The journey concluded in Savannakhet, Laos, before crossing back into Thailand through Mukdahan Province.
