เสียงธารน้ำรินไหลอยู่เบื้องหน้า ฉากหลังสุดมีหมวกหิมะปกคลุมอยู่บนยอด...ฉันเหมือนนั่งคนเดียวอยู่กลางหมู่บ้านเพราะไม่มีใครผ่านเข้ามาใน สายตาเลยสักคนเงียบเชียบอย่างนี้ คนขี้เหงามาเจอเข้าคงเผ่นแน่บดีเหลือเกินที่มี พู่กัน และกระดาษมาด้วย ไม่งั้น...ชีวิตจะเป็นยังไงไม่อยากนึก ว่าแล้วก็ก้มลงกราบเพื่อนร่วมทางงามๆ...สามครั้งแดดที่ร้อนเปรี้ยงมาทั้งวันหลบหายไปหลังม่านเมฆอากาศเย็นเยียบเข้ามาแทนที่ตามด้วยลม กระโชกปุบปับฉับพลันฝนก็พรมลงมาเหมือนฟ้ารดน้ำมนต์ทั้งหมดนี้เกิดขึ้นภายใน 20 นาทีดีที่เป็นลมฟ้าอากาศถ้าเป็นคนแล้วแปรปรวนขนาด นี้ต้องเรียกว่า"บ้า" จากวันนั้นมาตลอดสี่เดือนเต็มๆเท่าที่รู้ตัว...ไม่มีวันไหนที่ฉันไม่นึกถึงลาดัก

The sound of a stream flowed gently before me.In the far background, snowcaps rested upon the peaks…I felt as if I were sitting alone in the middle of the village—not a single soul passed through my sight.Such stillness.A lonely person stumbling upon this place might well flee at once.How fortunate I was to have brought brushes and paper with me;otherwise… I dare not imagine what life would have been like.And so I bowed low, paying homage to my beautiful traveling companions—three times.The blazing sun that had scorched the day slipped away behind a curtain of clouds.Icy air rushed in to take its place, followed by sudden gusts of wind.Then rain sprinkled down, as if the sky were bestowing holy water.All of this happened within twenty minutes.Thankfully, it was only the weather—had it been aperson, changing so wildly,we would have called it “mad.”From that day on, for a full four months, as far as I am aware,there has not been a single daywhen Ladakh has not crossed my mind.
