Romanticism is a natural gift—that is the conclusion I reached after finishing Two Shadows in Korea. Kongs’s words feel as though they are constantly winking and flirting with one another, making a reader like me unable to resist smiling along. Once I finished the book, I rushed to buy a ticket to Korea, even though I had never planned to go at all. It also sparked the inspiration for me to create Hello Stranger, the first romantic comedy film of my life. Although the film differs quite a lot from Kong’s book, at its heart lies the same essential theme: the romance between two people who do not know each other, yet find themselves traveling together—just as Kong so beautifully wrote.
