If we take the train at the same time every morning, we are likely to see some of the same people we saw the day before. Perhaps not everyone, but surely there will be a few familiar faces—people who seem as though we have passed by before. But if one morning we wake up late and travel at a different time from our usual routine, that person has probably already left, and instead we will meet others who are late just like us.How is it that a shared similarity in just one small thing can bring two people together without any prior arrangement? Or can this be explained by what we call “coincidence”—a word so often used to describe the beginning of “love”?
